dry volume

What is dry volume 1.54 and 1.33 in concrete and mortar?

What is the wet volume of concrete?

Wet volume means the mixture of materials is in a wet condition

  • Concrete = cement + fine aggregate + coarse aggregate + water
  • Mortar = cement + fine aggregate + water

What is a dry volume of concrete?

Dry volume means the mixture of materials is in a dry condition

  • Concrete = cement = fine aggregate + coarse aggregate
  • Mortar = cement + fine aggregate

What is the difference between wet volume and dry volume of concrete

The difference between these two is that after applying water to the dry concerned mix, the volume of the dry mix is reduced by about some percentage

What is 1.54 in concrete?

The dry volume of concrete is 1.54, which means after applying water to the dry concrete mix, the volume of the dry concrete mix is reduced by about 54%.

Dry volume = wet volume + 54% of wet volume

= 1 + (( 54/100 ) + 1 )

= 1.54. So, we need 1.54 cubic meters of dry mix to get 1 cubic meter of wet mix concrete.

Dry volume = wet volume + 54% of wet volume

The total volume required = Wet volume x Dry volume

Example;

we want 100 cubic meters of concrete.

wet volume = 100 cubic meter dry volume = 1.54 Total volume required = 100 x 1.54

 = 154 cubic meter

What is 1.33 in mortar?

The dry volume of mortar is 1.33, which means after applying water to the dry mortar mix, the volume of dry mortar mix is reduced by about 30% to 35%. commonly taken as 33%

Dry volume = wet volume + 33% of wet volume

= 1 + (( 33/100 ) + 1 )

= 1.33 so, we need 1.33 cubic meters of dry mix to get 1 cubic meter of wet mix mortar.

Dry volume = wet volume + 33% of wet volume

The total volume required = Wet volume x Dry volume

Example;

we want 10 cubic meters of mortar.

wet volume = 10 cubic meter dry volume = 1.33Total volume required = 10 x 1.33

= 13.3 cubic meter
