How this estimate is calculated

Dry volume = wet mortar volume × dry-volume factor. Cement and sand share this volume in the selected ratio, then receive the wastage allowance. Water = cement mass including allowance × assumed W/C ratio.

The default 1.33 factor is a practical estimating assumption. Sand weight uses an assumed dry bulk density; moisture and bulking corrections are not included. A nominal ratio does not guarantee a specified mortar strength.
